This weekend Neil and the Relssert Racing team headed to their local track - Mallory Park, for the 9th meeting of the Pickup Truck Racing Championship, and with Qualifying plus 3 Races it proved to be a very hectic day. Qualifying got underway early in the morning, with Neil qualifying 10th in the first session putting him on Pole for Race 1, then in the second session he qualified 7th placing him on the second row for Race 2. The First Race started shortly after the qualifying session with Neil on Pole, however as the first lap got going he hit some oil at the ‘Esses’ forcing him onto the grass, this meant several pickups were able to take advantage managing to squeeze past. Neil continued the race battling with Lee Rogers 69 and finished 9th. After dinner the Pickups were out for their second race of the day, Neil got a great run but was later side swiped coming up to the hairpin by rookie Danny Brosnan #33, which caused Neil to hit the barrier. Fortunately he was able to continue with the damage, finishing in 10th place. After the race we examined the damage and found 2 buckled wheels so we decided to check the setup and found the wishbone on the front right had been bent, this meant the race was on to get it fixed and Neil out for the final race. Lucky we were able to get the truck repaired in time for race 3, Neil started from the second row of the grid, toward the later half of the race the back end was beginning to get loose. Neil continued the race despite the distraction finishing 10th and securing 4th place in the overall championship. For the full leader board please click here.
