Pembrey - 11/04/11

The Pickup Trucks headed to a very hot and sunny Pembrey Race Circuit (Wales) this weekend, for another 3 Rounds of the Pickup Truck Racing Championship. Qualifying took place Saturday Morning, in session 1 Neil came 12th place, he was having some trouble with the pickup over steering on some of the corners so in the pits we did a few tweeks to the damper settings, Neil then went onto come 8th in session 2 putting him on the first row for Race 2. Saturday afternoon the first race took place however it came to a abrupt holt on Lap 3 when Nick White #36 unfortunately hit the tyre wall (PWR & NWR Team did a great job, working through the night to get the pickup out for Race 2 on Sunday.) After the pace car pulled in on Lap 8 the race continued, Neil did a great job bringing the pickup home in 6th place, our best position in pickup truck racing so far. In Sundays race 2 Neil started from the front row, he got to a great start, but was pushed wide through the first corner letting a few drivers through nevertheless Neil pushed on even when he missed a gear. The outcome of the race was 8th position. The final race was then in the afternoon, Neil again started from the front row. He got a fantastic start staying in 2nd place for a couple of laps with Simon Carr #15 just in front and with Dave Longhurst #23 in pursuit, but Neil then had a slight off track moment causing a gap for a couple of drivers to squeeze through. In the last race Neil came 9th. We have now moved up to 8th position in the overall championship, to see the leader board click here.
