This weekend saw the return of Neil and the Relssert Racing Crew to the 2016 Pickup Truck Racing Championship. Despite it being almost two years since Neil’s last trip to the 1.5 mile banked oval of Rockingham Motor Speedway he and the team were raring to go.
However a drastic turn of events during race two on Sunday saw the back end of the pickup becoming loose as Neil entered turn one, fortunately he was able to correct the slide until the truck spun around 180 degrees slamming into the concrete wall at full speed on the driver’s side door. The huge impact left Neil unconscious but with a full medical team instantly on the scene, they were eventually able to get Neil out of the truck and to the medical centre.
We would just like to say a massive thank you for all Neil’s well wishes, despite being very sore this morning and being unable to remember any of the crash on Sunday Neil is okay and that’s all that matters.
“I would just like to say a big thank you to all the medical team and marshals at Rockingham for looking after me when I had my big impact at turn one in race two.”
“I would also like to say a massive thank you to everyone at ‘Lea Wood Racing’ and ‘Murray Motorsport’ that helped the team get the truck back into the transporter; and Baseball from ‘Hawkin’s Racing/Steven’s Racing’ for getting the team home last night.”
“I am overwhelmed by the amount of lovely messages I’ve received since the crash, thank you to everyone who has messaged it means a lot.”
