Thruxton Round 16 & 17 - 19/08/09

It was a race on its own to get the truck ready for Thruxton, getting the old gearbox out which we found had broken at Donington (the teeth on the second gear had splintered). We also hadn't planned on going at first and decided at last minute to go. It paid off though as Neil moved up a place in the Overall Championship to 15th. In the first session of qualifying Neil came 15th however we fail to qualify in session 2 when the gear stick came unattached from the gearbox, we managed to fixed it, but they wouldn't let Neil out for the remanding minutes of the session. Race 1 and 2 took place on Sunday when it was very hot and sunny. In Race 1 Neil had a very close battle with Greg Wood with places changing every few minutes and with Damien Carr following shortly, but then Neil was pushed off a few laps before the end of the race, in the end Neil came 14th, we then had to repair the front panels of the car after the race as they got a bit out of shape. Race 2 then saw Neil come 13th, with only 0.734 seconds separating him and Simon Carr as he came over the line. The next Meeting is back at Rockingham Motor Speedway for the last Oval Meeting of the 2009 on the 5 & 6 September.
