Relssert Racing's Neil Tressler hopes to have a strong start to the 2013 Pickup Truck Racing Championship when it roars into life on the world-famous Brands Hatch circuit this weekend (20/21 April).
The Warwickshire-based driver has collected an array of silverware in his pickup racing career, finishing as high as fourth overall in 2011 before becoming the Rockingham Oval Vice Champion that same year.
But having switched from Ford to 2.3-litre Vauxhall engines for the 2013 campaign, which takes in some of the greatest race tracks in the UK, as well as France’s historic Magny Cours circuit, Tressler naturally hopes to be in contention for championship glory at the end of the 22-race season.
With a bumper grid of trucks set to take to the legendary Brands Hatch circuit as part of the support bill for the heavyweights of motorsport in the British Truck Racing Championship, the challenge is going to be as intense as ever.
But Tressler is quietly confident about his chances and is well aware that consistently strong points finishes will, as always, be the key to winning the title.
“I’m ready and raring to get the racing underway at Brands Hatch this weekend,” said Tressler. “I expect to be quick straight out of the blocks with Vauxhall power under our bonnet and I think finishing in the top six in both of this weekend’s races is more than realistic.
“Consistency is always the key to winning titles so I have to be there or thereabouts in every race in order to have a shot at the 2013 crown. The aim is to be at the top from the outset.”
Relssert Racing’s new livery will be unveiled at Brands Hatch on the morning Saturday 20th April in the build-up to qualifying for the opening race of the 2013 Pickup Truck Racing Championship, which is scheduled for 11.35.
Rounds 1 and 2 will take place at 11.00 and 14.30 respectively on Sunday 21st April.
